Why are bed quilts so outdated and why they shouldnt be?

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

Once upon a time, when I was a child, I often entered my grandma's bedroom, and on a vast bed, I was supposed to see freshly washed bedding with a soft blue floral print. Instead, I noticed a heavy, dark dust cover, which, when carefully approached, gave off an unusual antique smell of dust. A massive piece of cloth was mysteriously piling over the bed and even over it, almost completely obscuring its legs. Sometimes, I eagerly wanted to pull the quilt off the bed, not entirely sure if it was because of the dusty smell or just an ordinary childish curiosity to see what kind of bedding was hiding under it!

In my first blog, I would like to discuss why today, quilts do not serve as a shield against dirt and dust but are so much more!

Nothing makes you feel better than when you get into a hotel bed, and the sheets feel so good. Why shouldn't you wake up like that every day?

Three reasons why I believe quilts shouldn't be outdated:

1. Decorativeness:

A quilt can be an exceptional decorative addition to any bedroom. It can also serve as a good trick if we do not have bedding that goes well with the color spectrum of the room. However, we still like the space looking impressive during the day, or we want to brag in front of visitors of how stylish our home is, here a quilt can be a straightforward solution! (Who cares for how it looks in the night time right? No one can see you in the dark.)

2. Feelings of luxury:

We all know how good it feels when we enter a hotel room on holiday and quickly notice a nicely made bed that has a bunch of decorative accessories. We always wish it was the same at home! And it can be! With a beautiful quilt, you can conjure up in the bedroom that luxurious feeling of a hotel room you are used to experiencing only on vacation. All you have to do is cover the bed with a lovely quilt over your soft blanket.

3. When its too hot:

Sometimes, it was not exactly typical for bed quilts to serve the purpose of covering. Today, this is different, especially in the summer months, when it is simply too hot for a regular blanket.
